Troop 281-B (Boy-Led) and Troop 281-G (Girl-Led)
Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts) is a year-round program for youth 11-17 years old that provides fun, adventure, learning, challenge, and responsibility to help them become the best version of themselves.
For the first time in its 100+ year history, the iconic program of the Boy Scouts of America is open to young women as well as young men, all of whom will have the chance to earn Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
As a youth ministry of Anderson Hills Church, Troop 281 welcomes all interested Boys and Girls to be part of the Scouting experience!
Most of our Scouts join as part of our open houses or after their Cub Scout crossovers. When new groups of Scouts join at the same time, a New Scout Patrol, mentored by our senior Scouts (Troop Guides) are formed. The only requirements a Scout must meet is that they are at least 11 years old -OR- one who has completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years of age, but is not yet 18 years old. Scouts “age out” of our Troop at 18 years of age but can still participate with Scouting in a number of other ways and programs that we can connect you to.
If you can’t make it to one of our open houses, we welcome any prospective members to visit our troop meetings. To get more information, please contact one of our Scoutmasters or Assistant Scoutmasters. Click here for Troop 281B (Boys) or here for Troop 291G (Girls).
To get started, please read our Welcome to Prospective Scouts page and our New Scout Process. You can also print our New Member Information Sheet.
Once you get going, here are some documents that new Scouts find handy:
